Powtoon

Hello everyone,here is my first powtoon video on present continuous. It was my first time using powtoon but it was pretty easy thanks to powtoon's accessibilty and ease of use. I'm hoping this presentation helps students trying to learn about present continuous.

Storybird

Storybird is a language arts tool. We use illustrations to inspire Members to write stories, and encourage ongoing writing practice with badges and other rewards. Storybird is free to use for everyone. Purchases such as membership and printed copies of your own story are optional and not necessary to use the Site. I have personally created a comic about brushing teeh on Storybird. It is very  simple because it's target audience is year 2 students. It depicts a bird waking up,having breakfast and then brushing it's teeth.

Quizlet is a free website providing learning tools for students, including flashcards, study and game modes. I've created a quiz for students to participate in.

Voki is an educational tool that allows users to create their very own talking character. Voki is created by Oddcast and is located in New York City.

Voki characters can be customized to look like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and even yourself! Give your Voki a voice by recording with a microphone, using our dial-in number, or uploading an audio file. Voki characters can be emailed, shared on social media, and embedded on websites.

Canva is a website that let's you create presentations. It gives you a wide range of utilities to use in your presentation. There are some components of the website which require payment to be used. I didn't find it neccesary to pay for the extra components because the free version was enough to create this presentation on 'Types of Seedless Plants'.

QR Code

QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone). They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone. You may soon see QR Codes in a magazine advert, on a billboard, a web page or even on someone’s t-shirt. Once it is in your cell phone, it may give you details about that business (allowing users to search for nearby locations), or details about the person wearing the t-shirt, show you a URL which you can click to see a trailer for a movie, or it may give you a coupon which you can use in a local outlet.

Animoto is a cloud-based video creation service that produces video from photos, video clips, and music into video slideshows and customized web-based presentations.It is considered one of the scalable web applications that were developed from the early phases of cloud computing by companies with limited IT infrastructure.It is available in both online and mobile platforms and offered for free and paid upgraded accounts.

Kahoot

Kahoot! is a tool for using technology to administer quizzes, discussions or surveys. It is a game based classroom response system played by the whole class in real time. Multiple-choice questions are projected on the screen. Students answer the questions with their smartphone, tablet or computer.

Use of Games in Education

Paralel to the development in technology, technology's use in education has also developed. Thanks to the 3D effects and animations in game development, 3D effects and animation have been used to create educative content in all stages of schools. From kindergarten students to college students, games have become somewhat erreplacable due to their amazing contributions. Kindergarten students can be taught many things such as colours,numbers,days,months etc. using games. On the other hand Medical students can use games to perform surgeries with minimal cost and no risk. 3D maps and landscapes, visual materials will help education in geography. Games can be used not only for students, but also for teachers to further enhance their skills in teaching. Creating storylines in educational games will also help draw the attention of student and teachers alike. Also in long term using games instead of real life materials will lower the cost of education,because a game is only developed once and does not have the necessity for maintenance, compared to a  model of a human body which could break or lose it's function in time. If we were to talk about games in the field of English Language Teaching, we can say without a doubt that games will definitely draw attentions of ELT students more than any written source could. The level of difficulty in games could easily be adjusted to match the linguistic competence of the student. Exams could be done in the form of games to help stop students from developing stress related issues causing them to fail.
Having so many advantages, not using games in education would be inopportune.

Second Life experience

Second life is a virtual reality app in which you can play games, chat with others and have fun. I also play the game. It is an awesome game which I suggest you to have a look. Here is a screenshot I took from the game playing with my friends. It's me on the middle holding a dog.

Virtual Reality

I personally couldn't try out VR or any VR equipment. But i've looked up the lated technology and games created for VR and i came across this amazing game called Boneworks,which seems ultra realistic. To briefly mention Vr is;
Virtual Reality (VR) is the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. Unlike traditional user interfaces, VR places the user inside an experience. Instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is transformed into a gatekeeper to this artificial world. The only limits to near-real VR experiences are the availability of content and cheap computing power.

I hope i find the chance to try this out one day, it seems very enjoyable!
